Anne Barnett, broker/owner, has been in real estate since 1984 and is a Licensed Real Estate Broker, State-Certified General Real Estate Appraiser and Certified International Property Specialist. After finishing college at Kent State University in 1973, Anne came to Key West. With no jobs in the field she graduated in (Social Work), she took a job driving a taxi cab for Five 6s Cab Company. During that time, she and her husband lived on a boat, bought the Pampered Pet pet store in Key Plaza and worked a myriad of other jobs. In 1984, Anne obtained her real estate license and she and her husband purchased the “Old DePoo” Hospital on Southard Street. They converted it into 18 condominium units now known as Southard Square located in Old Town. It was constructed in accordance with Key West historic regulations and is still very beautiful today. Once all the units had been sold, in 1994 Anne left Key West and started Southern Property Services, Inc in Gainesville where she sold, appraised and developed land in north Florida. During her time in Gainesville, she developed two subdivisions west of Gainesville, Florida – The Riverwalk of Fanning Springs and Oak Walk – both homes only developments.
Anne returned to Key West and started Southernmost Island Realty. She is experienced in many capacities of real estate including appraising (she is a State-Certified General Real Estate Appraiser), development of both land and condominiums, and brokering of property. Anne is also a Certified International Property Specialist which requires training to be able to market real estate to international buyers. In addition to becoming aware of the differences in international buyers’ perceptions, needs, and legal issues regarding purchasing property in the United States, the designation also opens the door to a variety of marketing and networking venues that target international buyers.
Anne has two children, Ryan – a chiropractor in Key West, and Steven – who lives and works in Gainesville. In her spare time, she likes to kayak, run, bike and listen to music. Anne lives in Old Town with the dearest Golden Retriever on the planet (see her below).
